It’s almost Adelaide Fringe season again and it’s the perfect time of year for residents and visitors alike to immerse themselves in art and culture while appreciating Adelaide’s plentiful green spaces.


There are a whopping 1431 shows in the program this year, many taking place outdoors in beautiful parks and gardens, with many inspired by the natural world.

Celestial Gardens: The Secret Sound of Plants

This immersive outdoor show in the picturesque Carrick Hill Gardens is a delight to the senses as the gardens transform into an installation of sound, art and ethereal music. What’s in the Woods?

Inspiring the next generation to appreciate their natural environment is paramount, and this theatre show for babies and toddlers, could be the perfect place to start. You will be transported to a woodland scene right out of a picture book where toddlers and babies will be able to explore the space. Who knows, this could spark a life-long love affair with nature. The Earth Above: A Deep Time View of Australia’s Epic History

Australia’s First Nations people have been carers and custodians to our land for thousands of years. The Earth Above, a full dome experience, explores Australia’s past 140,000 years through four significant locations around Australia. Forrest Dance Adelaide

This is an interactive and immersive ceremonial offering to land, culture and humanity. Set in the stunning Adelaide Hills, this multi-disciplinary show, featuring performance art, live sound and storytelling, pays homage to the land, informed by the creator’s world travels. It’s a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Adelaide Hills, whilst reflecting on one’s connection to nature.

Ok, this isn’t a show, but one of the great joys of festival season in Adelaide is how our streets and parks come alive with a hive of activity, and how our nature is a natural host so for much enjoyment. If the streets get a little overwhelming, you don’t have to go far to get out of the hustle and bustle and reconnect to nature in our beautiful city.
